CHILD GROWTH MONITORING
Measure growth. See what needs follow-up.
Growth monitoring means more than recording one number. At each visit, a trained worker needs a usable measurement, the child’s age and sex, and a way to compare results over time. GrowthSight is developing a smartphone-based workflow to support that work for children aged 6–59 months.

What a growth visit needs to show
A single height estimate cannot describe a child’s growth by itself. Height is interpreted with age and sex for height-for-age screening; weight and height are considered together for weight-for-height screening. Repeated, quality-controlled measurements can help a team review whether a child’s growth pattern is changing.
The WHO Child Growth Standards provide the reference for interpreting these measurements. Programme protocols and a trained worker determine what assessment or referral follows a concerning result.
The workflow GrowthSight is developing
A worker takes guided front, side and back smartphone pictures. GrowthSight is being developed to estimate height from those images, present measurements during the visit and support review at subsequent visits. For wasting screening, the planned options are height paired with a Bluetooth-connected weighing scale, or an image-based MUAC estimate. These are separate offerings.
The intended value is practical: less time spent on capture, a clear record to discuss with a caregiver and an earlier opportunity to arrange follow-up. Speed, measurement quality and field usability still need pilot evaluation.
Where GrowthSight stands today
GrowthSight is in development and seeking pilot enquiries. The website does not report validated field accuracy, clinical outcomes or a deployment-ready device. Screening findings are a starting point for trained teams, not a diagnosis.
